Paper craft project no. 436: A trio of one layer cards featuring Trendy Feathers 2

It's stamp release week over at STAMPlorations! There are 4 fun stamps in this release and each day we are featuring one stamp set and cards made by each designer! I'm kicking off the blog hop with my set, Trendy Feathers 2. It will be Shirley's turn tomorrow with her super cool Groovy Shoes, and then Deepti will be back Wednesday with her Smile, followed by Becca and her Strong Women. The STAMPlorations girls in the Inspiration team will finish off the week with a mega-inspiration post where they'll share their projects featuring the new stamps. There are tons of prizes for those who hop along, with one lucky hopper winning the entire release.

Here are cards I created with my fun feathers set. I kept the cards one layer and used simple techniques such as embossing, sponging, masking, and stenciling.

(Other stamps used: Mixed Media Elements)

(Other products used: Artsy Border MakerStrong WomenPerched Bird stencil)

Hope you liked the cards and are inspired by them! Tomorrow, the spotlight will be on Shirley and her Groovy Shoes set.  Leave a comment here and on the STAMP blog here for your chance to win either a gift certificate or the entire release.

If you'd rather skip the hopping, this set and the other three are available in the shop at 10% off each until May 6. Buy all 4 as a bundle and get it at 15% off. See them here

Paper craft project no. 435: Celebrate one layer card

We have a brand new challenge at Time Out and for the next couple of weeks, it's a theme with an optional twist challenge. The theme: celebrations. The optional twist: die-cutting or fussy cutting.

I went with the twist -- sort of. I was working on a few new designs and I cut the framed flutters using my electronic die-cutting machine and then used the die-cut as a stencil/mask. I placed it on my card base and then sponged mustard seed Distress ink all over. I removed the stencil/mask and I stamped the butterflies (Trendy Butterflies) in pumpkin pie HA ink. I stamped the sentiment (cut from the sentiment in Framed Christmas: Celebrate the Season) in black ink. I decided to trace and doodle the frame with a brown Crafter's Companion Aqua marker. I added tiny blue splatters by flicking a waterbrush against the tip of blue Inktense pencil.

Check out the cards the team + guest designer Elizabeth made and then link up your own project. We can't wait to see them! CAS-ual Friday Stamps is sponsoring this challenge.

I'm joining in again at the CAS Mix Up April Challenge. I've got stamping and stenciling. For the third element, I went with 2 products -- Inktense pencil to create the tiny splatters and Crafter's Companion Aqua marker for the doodled frame.

Also playing once again at One Layer Simplicity Challenge (it's so nice to be able to play there again not once, but twice, this month!), where for April, we can create anything we wish (as long as it's one layer, of course!)

Paper craft project no. 434: Make today great one layer card

Over at the STAMPlorations blog, we're having the fourth ARTplorations stencil blog hop! For the next three days, you'll get to be inspired and see projects featuring stencils (and stamps too!). Lots of prizes up for grabs for those who hop along as well as share their stencil projects in the flash stencil project linky party (which starts tomorrow).

My card's pretty simple: I stamped the butterfly border (Butterfly Row Artsy Border) and then sponged Distress inks (mustard seed, spiced marmalade, fired brick) through the Art Splatters stencil. I randomly stamped the grungy newsprint background (Mixed Media Grunge) over the top part of the card base and then finished with the sentiment from the newly released stamp set, Trendy Feathers 2.

Linking up to these fun challenges:

Paper craft project no. 433: Instinct is enough one layer mixed media card

We have a brand new challenge at Time Out and for the next couple of weeks, it's Home Sweet Home inspiration photo.

I zeroed in on the flowers and the orange color (one of my favorite colors) and created a one layer mixed media card. I had my Gelli plate and acrylic paints out so decided to do some monoprinting. The background of my card is one of several prints I made off the ARTplorations Bloom Factory stencil. There was paint left on the stencil after I had pressed it on the Gelli plate to pull a couple of prints. Not one to waste paint, I pressed my card base on the stencil to get another print. I finished the card by stamping one of my favorite quotes (from STAMPlorations' Art Is).

Check out the cards the team + guest designers Elisabeth and Kylie made and then link up your own project inspired by the photo. We can't wait to see them! Happy Little Stampers is sponsoring this challenge.

And I'm joining in at the CAS Mix Up April Challenge. I completely missed the first challenge (mommy duties + dealing with a sick baby) but this month, I resolved to play. I've got stamping and stenciling. For my choice, I went with two: acrylic paint (product) and monoprinting (technique).

Also playing at One Layer Simplicity Challenge (haven't played there in ages!), where this month, we can create anything we wish (as long as it's one layer, of course!)
