Paper craft project no. 432: Work of art one layer card

Popping by to share one of several cards I made featuring the new Artsy Borders. My card above is a one layer mixed media card. The background is one of the gelli prints I pulled using the Tribal Triangles stencil with acrylic paints. I simply stamped the Butterfly Row border stamp randomly and without using an acrylic block and then added the sentiment from Art Is...

Paper craft project no. 431: Always tea time one layer cards

Over at the STAMPlorations blog, we're doing a two-fer: we're joining the fun Spring Coffee Lovers hop, as well as officially releasing coffee and tea stamp sets designed by me and the awesome Becca Cruger.

In this post, I'm sharing the cards I made using the stamp set I illustrated, Always Tea Time. I'll be sharing cards I made using Becca's stamp set, Bunnies 'N Beans, next week.

CARD #1: Good Things Happen one layer card
I stamped the large tea cup, masked it, and stamped the daffodils (Daffodil Row Artsy Border) in gray ink. I sponged Distress inks (spiced marmalade and mustard seed) all over the card base and then stamped the sentiment. I colored the teacup with Zig Kuretake watercolor. I felt the card needed a little grunge in it so I stamped a grungy border (Mixed Media Elements) and the card is done.

CARD #2: There Is Always Time For Tea one layer card
This card was real easy and quick to make: I stamped the grungy frame (Floral Bliss) and sentiment in black. Then I masked the frame, stamped the two small tea cups in spring colors, and the card is done.

Check out the cards the STAMPlorations girls made featuring our new releases on the STAMPlorations blog. You could even win yourself some stamps by commenting on my post, on my fellow designers' blogs, and on the STAMPlorations blog by Friday, March 25. We're giving away the Bunnies 'N Beans and Always Tea Time stamp sets + a $10 gift certificate to the STAMPlorations store.

And just for the Spring Coffee Lovers hop participants, all orders placed on the STAMPlorations store are 15% off until March 25. (No minimum order.) Use the coupon code SPRINGCLBH on checkout.

Paper craft project no. 430: Bloom shine take flight one layer card

We have a brand new challenge at Time Out. For the next couple of weeks, it's CASE with your own twist challenge. We are CASEing the card by Marjan Kuppers of Marjan's Blog. Here's her card:

I was inspired by the frame in Marjan's card and I added a couple of twists: instead of flowers, I went with butterflies, and I went with a one layer card. I stamped the framed butterflies (from Hope Blooms) in black, turned the stamp over and inked the backside with pink ink. Then masked the frame and stamped the butterfly border (Butterfly Row, one of four artsy border stamps that will be released in April) in gray (HA soft granite) several times to create the background. Then I stamped some grungy splatters (Mixed Media Elements and Art Marks) in pink. I stamped the sentiments (from Hope Blooms) in black, rounded the bottom corners, and applied soft granite ink all around the edges to finish off the card.

Check out the cards the team made and then link up your own project inspired by Marjan's card. We can't wait to see your creations!

Paper craft project no. 429: Imagine possibilities one layer card

Popping by with a card for the current challenge at Time Out. We're celebrating its 2nd year and the theme is Easter and/or Spring with the optional technique twist of masking. There's still about a week left to play and link up.

Just like my first card, I used stencils and masks -- I placed the ARTplorations butterfly stencil/mask (Shower of Flutters) on one side of my card base and the flower stencil/mask (Bloom Factory) on the other and then I sponged yellow ink. I also stamped some grungy numbers and splatters (Mixed Media Elements) in orange before lifting off the stencils. Then I stamped the coordinating butterflies (Trendy Butterflies) in blue and orange inks, as well as the sentiment (Sentiment Builders: Imagine and Sentiment Builders: Discover). Finished the card off by rounding the bottom corners.

Check out the cards the team + guest designer TaeEun made and then link up your own project based on the theme. And there are prizes! The winner (voted by the team) will receive a $20 gift certificate from STAMPlorations. And those who do the twist of masking will be included in a random drawing to win any 2 standard size ARTplorations stencils. So we hope you celebrate TO's 2nd birthday with us by linking up your Easter- and/or spring-themed projects! We can't wait to see your creations!

Paper craft project no. 428: Fly high one layer card

Today's the start of another new challenge at Time Out and yay...the challenge run by the dynamic duo Sandie and Nonni turns 2! For the next couple of weeks, we've got a theme: Easter and/or Spring with the optional technique twist of masking.

I went with the spring theme and the twist for my one layer card. I temporary adhered the bird mask (Perched Bird stencil & mask) and then layered a second stencil (Bloom Factory stencil/mask) before sponging two spring-y (to me) Distress inks, spun sugar and mustard seed. Removed the flower stencil then stamped the coordinating flower stamps (Bloom Factory set) in black. Then I removed the bird mask, placed the bird stencil on the card base to cover the stamped areas, and then randomly stamped splatters and newsprint (Art Marks and Mixed Media Grunge) in soft pink for faux texture. Then I removed the stencil and stamped my sentiment (Art Marks). Finished the card by rounding the bottom corners.

427: Yuletide cheer one layer card

We're starting a new challenge over at One Layer Christmas Card. Our guest designer this time around is the talented Shirley Bampton. As usual, it's anything Christmas goes...so long as it's one layer. Hope you can join us and link up in the next two weeks. Check out the beautiful one layers created by our guest designer and my teamies Vickie and Susan.

To make my card, I stamped the framed poinsettia and masked it before stamping the spruce in different shades of green. I finished the card by stamping the simple sentiment.
