Paper craft project no. 491: Soar one layer card

Hello! Back today with a card for the current challenge at Time Out. There is still a week left to play over there. It's Home Sweet Home challenge, where we have an inspiration photo:

I took inspiration from the colors and two of the elements (bird and flowers) to create my one-layer card. I stamped the grungy bird (Trendy Birds 2) in black, the sentiment (Noteworthy 2) in salmon, and the grungy florals (Big Bloom Factory) in various colors. For faux texture and to ground the black bird, I randomly stamped a couple of grunge borders (Mixed Media Grunge, Mixed Media Elements) in black.

Check out the cards that the TO team + guest designer KandA made and then come play with us! STAMPlorations is also sponsoring the challenge. One winner (voted by the design team) will receive a $10 gift certificate and another winner (randomly drawn from all entries) will win her choice of stamp set.

Thanks for stopping by! Don't forget to smile :o)

Paper craft project no. 490: I Love U

Hello! A new challenge starts today at Less Is More and I'm thrilled to be guest designing! STAMPlorations is sponsoring this particular challenge and if you play along, you get the chance to win a $25 gift certificate to the store.

This week, the theme is ALPHABET. Easy peasy!

When Sarah revealed the theme to me, I was even more thrilled -- perfect timing because I had recently released two CUTplorations alphabet plate dies, so I knew I was going to use one of them ;o)

I used the Uppercase Alphabet plate die directly on my card base to die-cut the alphabets. Then on a piece of card stock, I stamped the grunge newsprint stamp from Mixed Media Grunge in black and stuck it underneath my card base. I took the die-cut letter I and U, colored them with a red marker and stuck them in place. Next, I die-cut the Love word die three times, colored one of them with a red marker, and then stacked them up and stuck them to my card. And my card's done. I resisted the urge to grunge up the card a little more because then it wouldn't be clean and simple anymore. Hope I did the good folks at LIM proud because I'm not really a clean and simple girl when it comes to cards ;o)

Here are the STAMPlorations products I used to create my alphabet card:

Hope you were inspired by my card to join in this week's Alphabet challenge! Thank you again to Chrissie, Sarah, and the rest of the LIM team for having me.

Paper craft project no. 489: Because I care

Hello, hello! I'm back for the third day of Love TAGplorations over at the STAMPlorations blog. (If you missed the first day, the post is here. It has all the info on prizes and how you can link up your own Valentine's day projects.)

For my card today, I took a page from the Color Blooms coloring book and die-cut a tag (using the medium Luggage Tag die). Next I die-cut the clustered hearts three times, coloring the hearts with pink and red markers, and layering them up. I used bright gold Nuvo Crystal Drops to outline the hearts. Then I die-cut two strips of card stock with the curly bracket die (from Lacy Edges and Borders), colored one of them with a red marker, layered them up, stamped the sentiment (from Pocket Blooms) in black, and adhered to the tag. I finished the card with pink twine.

Have you linked up to the Love TAGplorations gallery yet? You've the the weekend to create a Valentine's day project or two with a tag in it so I hope you'll join us!:o)

My card's layout is based on the current sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch:

Paper craft project: 488: You are special

Hi again! I'm back for the second day of Love TAGplorations over at the STAMPlorations blog. (If you missed the first day, the post is here. It has all the info on prizes and how you can link up your own Valentine's day projects.)

For my card, I stamped the dogwood (Floral Bliss) in HA white ink all over a black textured card base. On mixed media paper, I stamped it again using a pink Tombow brush marker and spritzed to make the ink bleed and make the image look faded. Then I stamped it again on one side with HA neon pink. I die-cut a tag out of it using the ATC Tag Builder dies and stamped the sentiment (Pocket Blooms) in black before adhering the tag and finishing it with pink twine.

I hope you're enjoying our little hop so far and that you will soon link up a project of your own on the Love TAGplorations gallery. The link up is open until Valentine's day so get to it! ;o)

Paper craft project no. 487: Love ya

For my Love TAGplorations post earlier today, please click here.

Hello, hello! I hope your week's going well. I've got a card for the current challenge at Time Out. It's an Inspired by Words challenge: "Friends are connected heart to heart, distance and time can't break them apart."

For my one layer card, I sponged HA hot pink through the Doodled Heart stencil. Then I stamped the sentiments and background flowers (Girlfriend set from CAS-ual Fridays).

Check out the cards that the TO team + guest designer Jane made and then come play with us! CAS-ual Fridays is sponsoring the challenge.

Paper craft project no. 486: Love

Hey! Sharing a card for the first day of Love TAGplorations over at the STAMPlorations blog. From today up until Valentine's day, you'll find the STAMPlorations girls sharing projects with tags in them. There are plenty of prizes for those who visit the participating designers' blogs and leave comments along the way. Then there are prizes too (new stamps and dies!) for those who party with us and link up their own Valentine's day projects.

For my project, I inked up my favorite stamp (Large Narcissus) with a black Tombow marker, spritzed it with a bit of water, and stamped on my card base (Strathmore acrylic paper -- it has a wonderful texture). Then I  took a waterbrush and ran it over the stamped image that I was going to die-cut my tag out of. I used the smallest luggage tag die to die-cut the tag and then I inked the edges of the tag with HA neon pink. Placed a small piece of card stock on the back of the card front before adhering the tag back in place with foam tape. Oh yeah, I added some black splatters to the card base before doing that. Then I die-cut love three times on white card stock, sponged HA neon pink on one of them, and then stacked and adhered the thing. Finished the card with dark pink twine.

I'm the last stop in the hop -- for today :o) Hope the team and I have inspired you to create a project or two that you can link up to the Love TAGplorations gallery. The link up is open until Valentine's day so get to it! ;o)

Paper craft project no. 485: XOXO

A funny thing happened on my way to bed after posting this card. As I was tying up a few loose ends on my computer, I made the mistake of reading new emails in my inbox. That's when I saw the current challenge at the Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge - XOXO and just had to play. (Good excuse to make a card for DH too!)

Found some black textured cardstock. Applied white Marabu mixed media art crayon over the Doodled Heart stencil. Die-cut the XOXO sentiment three times -- once in white and twice in black -- and layered them up. Felt something was missing so I die-cut some hearts from Clustered Hearts on white cardstock, colored the 3 hearts with red BIC markers, stuck  them in place, and voila! Got a Valentine's day card for DH made in 10 minutes. I'm really, really going to sleep now!

Paper craft project no. 484: Be the game changer

Been a while since I made something just for the fun of entering a few challenges. Found a little time this morning. DH is on baby duty and took the Kat to town to do some shopping and also so I could get some sleep (been up since yesterday afternoon). Needed to relax for a few minutes so I decided to make this one layer card. Been itching to ink up the new Trendy Butterflies 2 set I designed. I colored the large butterfly with yellow, orange, and red BIC markers and then stamped the sentiment from Noteworthy 2

I get a bit philosophical when I'm sleep deprived and I think the sentiment goes rather well with that bright, colorful butterfly. You know...in a world full of butterflies (or you can insert whatever noun you want here), be the butterfly that shakes things up, the butterfly that's different from all the rest, the butterfly that dances (or flutters) to its own rhythm, the butterfly that doesn't merely follow the rules of the games but adds something interesting to the game...k, I think I better stop and go to bed :o)

Anyway, I had a few challenges in mind when I was creating this:
