Paper craft project no. 495: Smile one layer card

Hey! Cupcake Inspirations is celebrating its 400th challenge and the current challenge is being sponsored by several cool companies, STAMPlorations included :o) Today STAMPlorations is in the spotlight and several STAMPlorations girls created a birthday project inspired by a past Cupcake Inspirations theme.

My one layer birthday card was inspired by this past challenge:

I stamped the flower (Sweet Spring Wishes) and masked it before doing some collage stamping for the background (Butterfly Row, Mixed Media Elements). I finished it with the sentiment (Smile). This card's already on its way to its intended recipient and hopefully she's already gotten it :o)

Hope you'll check out the Cupcake Inspirations blog and join in with your own birthday project!

Paper craft project no. 494: Hopping by to say hi

Hello! Last week, a new challenge started at Time Out. This time around we're to CASE a card and put our own twist to our creation. We are CASE-ing this spring-y card by Jenny of Crafting in the Country.

I took my cue from the spring vibe of Jenny's card -- the birdhouses hanging off a branch say "spring time!" to me. Bunnies also signal spring time and the cute bunny from the Hip Hop Bunnies set from sponsor Verve. I stamped one of the bunnies inside the stitched circle stamp (from STAMPlorations) then sponged different spring colors of ink inside each. I stamped the sentiment and finished the card by rounding one bottom corner. Oh, and my twist -- I made it a one layer card :o)

Check out the cards the team + guest designer Izzy made and then link up your own project inspired by Jenny's card. There is still a week left to play. We can't wait to see your creations!

Paper craft project no. 493: Hello sunshine!

Popping by with a card I made for the new challenge over at AAA Cards. I'm once again pleased to guest design and join the ladies over there. STAMPlorations is sponsoring, and for the next two weeks the theme is diecuts. Super challenge theme because there are several brand new CUTplorations dies in the store!

Displaying #86.jpg

To create my card, I started by die-cutting the intricate butterfly (CUTplorations Flutter Zen 1 layering dies) and I used the negative as a stencil to sponge ink on the base and stamp the grungy newsprint text (Mixed Media Grunge) before adhering the die-cut butterfly. Next, I die-cut my sentiment twice (CUTplorations Hello Sunshine). I sponged the "hello" in the same ink color as the butterfly background, added 3 matte enamel dots, and rounded one corner of the card to finish it off.

I hope you'll join the AAA Cards design team and link up your  clean and simple cards based on the theme. The winner will receive the CUTplorations dies I used in my card: Hello Sunshine and Flutter Zen 1 layering dies.

Thanks for stopping by! Don't forget to smile :o)

Paper craft project no. 492: Java great day!

Hello! Sharing a card for the current challenge at Time Out. There is still a week left to play over there. Time Out is celebrating its 3rd birthday so there are plenty of prizes! For TO's birthday challenge, the theme is Love/Friendship with the optional twist of spotlight stamping.

I went with the theme and twist, but I cheated a bit. I love masking, but I didn't lose my marbles and go on a fussy cutting spree in making this card. (And besides, I don't have more than 15 minutes these days to make a card.) So how did I cheat? Well, I went back to the raw digital file I have for one of the pages in the Color Blooms coloring book, resized it so it would fit on my card base, and then printed it on cardstock. Then I stamped the traveler mug (Anywhere There's Coffee) on the print and colored the blooms inside the image with Tombow dual brush markers. Then I die-cut the sentiment (CUTplorations Java Great Day) twice, colored one of them with a black marker, layered them up, and the card's done. This card's going to a coffee-loving friend :o)

Check out the cards that the TO team + guest designer Ardyth made and then come play with us!
