Paper craft project no. 323: You're an awesome friend one layer card

Hello! Here's a CAS one layer card I made using a fun stenciling technique. I used a stencil I designed plus drywall tape :o) You'll find my step-by-step photo tutorial for this card over at the STAMPlorations blog.

My card also serves as a reminder card for the current challenge over at The Mixed Media Card Challenge, where this month's theme is "new" (I made this card for a new friend). In addition to stamps and inks, I used a stencil, drywall tape, and watercolor brush markers so the card meets the basic definition of a mixed media card as explained here. Hope you can play with us -- there's still over a week left to play!

Paper craft project no. 322: Happy holidays one layer card

Hello, everyone! I'm here with my first card for 2015. Took me a while, but I'm happy to be able to do a little crafting. This one layer card is for a brand new challenge blog -- One Layer Christmas Card Challenge. It's always anything one layer Christmas goes, but there's an optional twist. For our first challenge, the twist is red. And there is even a prize up for grabs. Check out the blog -- the One Layer Christmas Card girls made beautiful cards for your inspiration! We hope you'll join us!

To make my card, I used my Japanese watercolor brush pen on a stencil -- colored in the "h" and "ppy" before tracing  the letters with a black marker. Then I stamped the Christmas tree in place of the "a" and the sentiment. I placed a strip of drywall tape at an angle at the top and bottom of my card, sponged Distress ink over it, and removed the tape to reveal the grid design. Done with my first Christmas card for the year :o)

I'm linking up my card to these fun challenges:
  1. Dream Valley Challenge #97 - Christmas
  2. Virginia's View Challenge #11 - Clean Slate
